What Scrap Metal Pickup Costs

Scrap pickup is priced like any other job, by the space it takes in the truck. Anything smaller than a quarter load is $150, from any floor.

One grill, a bike or a metal bed frame

$150

A single piece is well under a quarter of the truck, so it is our $150 minimum.

A pile of scrap from the garage

$150 to about a quarter load

Metal shelving, old tools, a grill and a couple of bikes often stay under a quarter of the truck. Things that come apart take less room once they are down.

Scrap mixed with other junk

a quarter to a half load, $275–$425

Metal does not need to be separated. Everything goes on one truck, priced together by space.

A full garage or basement clear-out

a full load or more, from $780

A full truck holds about 19 cubic yards, metal and everything else together.

How Scrap Metal Pickup Works

Send a photo, get the price

Text a photo of the pile, the address and where it is: garage, basement, yard or curb. Anything under a quarter of the truck is $150, and you approve the price before we load anything.

No sorting needed

You do not need to separate steel from aluminum, or metal from the rest of the junk. Everything goes on one truck, and the metal goes to scrap-metal recycling when a facility can take it.

Heavy pieces, any floor

A weight bench, a cast-iron grill or a stack of steel shelving comes up the basement stairs like anything else, with no stair fee. We take shelving and bed frames apart when that makes them easier to carry.

What we do not take

Propane tanks, gas cans with fuel in them, car batteries and chemicals are hazardous waste, and we do not take hazardous waste. If a mower or a snow blower still has gas in it, ask us first.

Already outside? You do not need to be home

If the scrap is on the driveway, by the garage or at the side of the house, send the photo and the address and we pick it up while you are out.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does scrap metal pickup cost?

A single piece or a small pile is $150, from any floor. Bigger jobs are priced by truck space: a quarter load from $275, a half from $425, three-quarters from $575 and a full load from $780. You get the price before we load anything.

Is scrap metal pickup free?

No. Scrap pickup is priced like any other job, by the space it takes in the truck, from $150. The price covers the crew, the truck and the trip to the recycler.

Do I have to separate the metal from other junk?

No. Metal and everything else go on the same truck, priced together by space, and the metal goes to scrap-metal recycling when a facility can take it.

Do you take old appliances as scrap?

Yes, once they are disconnected. Washers, dryers, stoves and drained water heaters go to scrap recycling. Fridges and freezers have to leave whole because of the refrigerant; see refrigerator removal.

What metal items can’t you take?

Hazardous items: propane tanks, gas cans with fuel, car batteries and chemicals. If a mower or snow blower still has gas in it, ask us first.

Can you pick up scrap metal today?

In most cases we can come the same day or the next day. Call or text in the morning with a photo and the address, and we will tell you when the crew can be there.
